APS enables B2B commerce through EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) integration
solutions for your legacy system. We have extensive experience working with various EDI
standards and documents. Our partnership with established VANs gives us an additonal edge
in providing fast and reliable EDI solutions.
In a typical EDI integration project we create processes
and mechanisms which convert the EDI documents (customer purchase orders, your invoices to
customers, your purchse orders to vendors etc.) directly into formats understandable by
your system. Thus, a purchase order sent by your customer would automatically get uploaded
into your system with no human involvment. Such a process not only reduces the human
involvement but also reduces the overall error rate tremendously. We have successfully
transformed systems to the extent that our customer's EDI traffic changed from 0% to more
than 80% (of their total sales and purchasing) via EDI. This is the true power of 'e' !
Understanding EDI
Electronic data interchange
(EDI) is an industry term and simply means the exchange of electronic data and documents
between applications on computers according to standardized rules. When trading partners
exchange electronic data, each of their computers translates the data into a standard EDI
format that can be communicated to and understood by the other's computer.
With EDI, you can
electronically exchange information, such as purchase orders, inquiries, and spreadsheets,
within your business or with other enterprises. There are hundreds of different
transactions spanning numerous industries for which there are EDI standard formats.
The following diagram shows just one example, where trading partner A's computer sends a
purchase order in an EDI standard format to trading partner B's computer, who sends an
invoice in an EDI standard format back to trading partner A's computer. (With EDI, the
communications are always between applications on computers.)
